Vaughn Belting has a rich legacy that spans nearly a century. Originally established as the Vaughn-Huff Belting Company in 1928, the reins were later taken up by Joseph and Bessie Vaughn, transforming it into Vaughn Belting. Initially catering to the textile industry in various locations around Spartanburg, our journey took a significant turn in 1951 when Mr. Joseph C. Alberts, Jr. acquired the company. Under his leadership, we became a prominent player in loom parts recovery and leather sales for the textile industry.
In 1986, ownership shifted to Joseph F. Schachner Jr., marking a pivotal moment in our history. Mr. Schachner diversified our product and service offerings, expanding beyond leather to include power transmission products, endless belts, and more. Brian Schachner, joining the business in 1991 and later assuming ownership in 2000, continued this legacy of growth. Seeking to position the company for continued growth, Brian sold the company to Cumulus Companies, Inc. in 2019 and continues to serve as its President. Cumulus is a family-owned and operated investment and management company with roots dating back to 1949. Cumulus has several distribution, fabrication, and manufacturing businesses serving a broad array of industries.
