Classical

These belts are built to RMA standards and are dual banded. Classical v-belts are measured by inside length. They are available in cogged raw edge, which are especially useful for high speed compact drives and banded, which are often used on vertical shafts and where belt vibration and flopping must be minimized. Double multiple v-belts (dual sided) are especially designed for serpentine and reversing drives because of the transmission of power from both sides of the belt.

Classical v-belts are recognized by a letter denoting top width and a number denoting inside length.

Ex: A-39 (1/2” top width x 5/16” thick) 39” long
 B-39 (21/32” top width x 13/32” thick) 39” long
 C-55 (7/8” top width x 17/32” thick) 55” long
 D-90 (1 1/4” top width x 3/4” thick) 90” long

Cogged raw edge v-belts are recognized by the letter “X”.

Double multiple v-belts are recognized by two letters.

Ex: AX-38
      BX-38
      CX-60
Ex: AA-49
      BB-50
      CC-75

Fractional Horsepower (FHP)

These belts are available in Uni-Match dual branded sizes and conform to RMA standards. FHP belts are measured by outside length of the belt.  They are recognized by a number and letter denoting top width and a number multiplied by 10 denoting the length of belt.

EX: 3L130 (3/8” top width x 7/32” thick) 13” long
  4L280 (1/2” top width x 5/16” thick) 28” long
  5L270 (21/32” top width x 13/32” thick) 27” long

Metric

Built to European standards SP Series v-belts allow for more power, high speed ratios, smaller distances and more compact drives. They are replacement belts for many imported machines and for machinery built for export. Metric v-belts are specified by letters showing the SP section and numbers giving pitch length in millimeters.

Ex: SPZ-2132 (9.7MM top width x 8MM thick)
 SPA-2132 (12.7MM top width x 10MM thick)
 SPB-2120 (16.3MM top width x 13MM thick)
 SPC-1700 (22MM top width x 18MM thick)

Deep Wedge/ Cogged Deep Wedge

This belt offers a more narrow, deeper wedge shape with more efficient load carrying characteristics and higher power capacity which allows for smaller, more compact drives. Deep wedge and cogged deep wedge v-belts are identified by a number and a letter which specify the belt section and the number giving the outside length in inches multiplied by 10.

Ex: 3V250/3VX250 (3/8” top width x 5/16” thick)
 5V500/5VX500 (5/8” top width x 17/32” thick)
 8V1000 (1” top width x 7/8” thick)

Deep wedge V-belts are also available banded.  They feature the same premium construction as the individual belts. They are often used on vertical shafts and where belt vibration and flopping must be minimized. Banded deep wedge v-belts are specified by the letter “R” denoting banded construction.

Ex: 3R3V400 = 3 banded 3V400

Multi-Rib

Where a broad range of speed ratios (up to 40 to 1) is required, multi-rib v-belts are often recommended. Belt turnover is eliminated. Additionally, they offer greater flexibility than banded v-belts for smaller pulley diameters and more compact drives. Complete belt rib to pulley groove contact, gives more power transmission in less space. These belts are specified by effective length in inches multiplied by 10, the cross section and number of ribs.

Ex: 270J6 = 270(effective length) (cross section) 6 ribs
 270J (3/32” rib width x 5/32” thick)
 375L (3/16” rib width x 3/8” thick)
 900M (3/8” rib width x 21/32” thick)
